Dr Yeishna Ramkillawan is a Specialist Pulmonologist from Pietermaritzburg in KZN. She has a special interest in a wide spectrum of respiratory illnesses namely Asthma, Emphysema, long COVID, Pneumonia, Interstitial Lung Disease as well as Lung Cancer. Her passion lies in prevention, early detection of disease and halting disease progression by offering a variety of tests from basic spirometry to more advanced total lung capacities, diffusion, and airway resistance.

She established her private practice in 2022 to allow more people access to pulmonology care. In the past, she felt limited in the number of patients accessing these specialist services.

Dr Ramkillawan had a keen interest in medicine from a very young age. She has always found the human body fascinating. In studying medicine, she has learnt that when the body is sick, it leaves a trail of clues to identify and diagnose medical conditions. She loves being able to identify these clues, diagnose conditions and give hope back to her patients.

Lung diseases can be scary, as struggling to complete every breathe causes intense anxiety among patients and their loved ones. Dr Ramkillawan enjoys being able to help her patients breathe easily again.
